Most jet ski users complying with new laws---(Australia)

Quote:
Authorities say there has been good compliance with tough new laws on the use of jet skis in Queensland.

From January 1, people using a personal water craft (PWC) need a specific licence.

Geoff Krause from the Boating and Fisheries Patrol says on the Gold Coast, few people have been issued with the $375 on-the-spot fine for not having a licence.

"We've had good compliance rate with the PWC licence, that's around the 90 per cent mark, which is very pleasing, but we've had a few instances of people not understanding the 60 metre distance from other people in the water and moored boats and boat ramps and stuff and there's been a few on-the-spot fines dished out for that," he said.

Re: Most jet ski users complying with new laws---(Australia)

I know its been brought up before many times. But I think if we had a pwc licence and boat licence, the states would be happy they are getting extra green, and would limit the dumbasses out on the water. Even just a safty class.....

But its always good to read anywhere that the world isn't full of dumbasses as it sometimes seems.

Re: Most jet ski users complying with new laws---(Australia)

although the new lic has come in over here we still have the odd wanker or two out there stuffing it up for the rest of us

the lic only cost $35 AUD which is about $25 US you had 6 months to get it at this price and you had to do a 30 question test and if you didnt get the lic within 6 months you now have to do a full day course for around $150 AUD
