| Morgan Malocco, Former Offshore Racing Director Killed In Off Road Accident I got this message from Steve Freibe today...really, just exceptionally sad news.
==========================
Lisa,
It is with great sadness to report that Morgan Malocco, a great friend, fellow Checkers and former Race Director for BP MotorSports Off-Shore Endurance, died this past weekend in Parker, Arizona.
It was during the running of the Parker 425 Off-Road race. Morgan and his girlfriend had driven their Rhinos from Havasu to Parker, along with a group of about ten other friends, also on Rhinos to watch the race. Upon returning, they took a trail to stay off the highway and it appears that he may have lost control and rolled down a steep hill. He died instantly. His girlfriend was transported via helicopter to La Vegas emergency.
Billy Robertson and I are trying to get more details. We know that the body will be picked up from Parker, AZ this Wednesday. We are still not sure about further details but we will post here as soon as they become available.
It is a terribly sad day for all of us who knew him, loved him and counted him as a true friend.
Thanks .
Steve Friebe Some of you may remember Morgan Malocco, father of Jasen and Stephanie Malocco (former closed course and endurance racers). Morgan was not only a colorful and fun character, but a wonderful father - always supporting his kids in their racing endeavors. He made huge contributions to the sport, and will be sorely missed. My thoughts and condolences go out to his family.
Lisa

Wow sad news. I used to race dirt bikes with him in the 70's and he was very good at that too. Such a high price to pay for an accident on a trail. Godspeed Morgan. |

| Re: Morgan Malocco, Former Offshore Racing Director Killed In Off Road Accident This is terrible news. I lost another friend this past November in the same way (rhino).
Morgan was a great man and good friend to me.
After all he's been through and overcome in his life, it's hard to believe that he lost his life this way. I'll miss him.
My condolences to Jason and Stephanie.

| Re: Morgan Malocco, Former Offshore Racing Director Killed In Off Road Accident My condolences to Morgans family, I always enjoyed Morgan and he was one of the best and fairest race directors I've been around. He will be missed but I'm sure he's up there arranging races in the big pond in the ski. God speed my friend.

| Re: Morgan Malocco, Former Offshore Racing Director Killed In Off Road Accident Here's more information regarding Morgan Malocco. The family has set up a trust account to receive donations. You should know that because of Morgan's bad legs (from an off-road accident many years ago), he could not get medical insurance. This makes it very tough for Jason and Stephanie (his kids). Amber Marie Norman is Morgan's niece and she has set up the trust. Donations can be sent to: Bank of America; Amber M. Norman Trustee, acct.# 004966811122. . The information for the service is: Saturday, February 16, 2008 @ 1 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 11042 White Fox Trail Oakhills, CA 92344 |

David | I only knew the tip of the iceburg, but what I do remember most about Morgan was how vibrant and full of life he was and how hilarious his stories always were...and he was always going WOT, no matter what he was up to. I guess if you have to go early, I'd choose going out fast doing something I'm passionate about any day.
God Bless ya Morgan.

| Re: Morgan Malocco, Former Offshore Racing Director Killed In Off Road Accident We were saddened to hear about the loss of our friend Morgan and will truly miss him. We will cherish our fond memories of Morgan at region one races, our phone calls about 951 engines, and many World Finals together. We will never forget our crazy golf cart ride through Crazy Horse Campground in 2003. We still laugh about it today.
Our deepest condolences go out to Jason and Stephanie. Morgan was a wonderful dad who loved to watch his kids race, even if those darn runabouts were giving him fits. You will truly be missed by us.
