`Jetskis killed dolphins'---(Australia)

Quote:
HEARTBROKEN Two Rocks residents claim jetskiers are responsible for the deaths of a female dolphin and its baby.

Two Rocks-Yanchep environmental group president Martina Thomas said people were sickened by the incidents.

She said people who were watching the dolphins play were incensed because they shouted warnings to the jetskiers, but were ignored.

The dolphins' bodies had washed up on Two Rocks beach, she said.

The baby had been washed back to sea, while two days later the mother was found dead with visible wounds. It was buried on the beach.

Ms Thomas said the jetskiers were not being careful and there was no law to protect the dolphins.

Local residents are fighting for jetski restrictions to be put in place.

A CALM spokeswoman said she could not confirm that the dolphins had been killed by jetskis.

RSPCA spokeswoman Emma-Jane Morcombe said people enjoying the water needed to remember it was home to wildlife and to take special care.

Re: `Jetskis killed dolphins'---(Australia)

I rode around dolphins maybe 100 times, they were playing with us and we often ended swimming with them.
And whoever has ever been around dolphins proves me wrong but I played with dolphins quite a lot and there is NO WAY I could even come close, let alone hit them if I had tried to.

And besides, a PWC hitting a dolphin wouldn't generate wounds or laceration, that dolphin was most likely attacked by a shark, just that they can't ban sharks.

And I LOVE the profile of the "witness", "Two Rocks-Yanchep environmental group president Martina Thomas"

Whatever.

I'll bet anything these "residents" have been trying to ban PWC for years and are using this opportunity as the (false) reason. These same "environmental group" type are probably the same folks that are fighting for human rights for terrorists.

I have riden down in Mex with dolphins and I am here to say.
I don't care how fast you are, there is NO WAY a PWC can catch
a dolphin let alone hit one. BUT THREE
NOT A CHANCE
If they did get them, they were hurt long before the PWC's came around.
Just my thoughts...

I too have jetskied with dolphins running alongside, in front and in back of us, they are scarry fast and seem to enjoy racing us as well!
Just what part of a jetski's propulsion system sticks out?
Boat propellers, sharks or maybe even a canoe with a sharp paddle, that's who!

The Sunday Times needs to retract that story with an apology. It's Guilty until proven Innocent according to them. They have no proof the jet ski's killed the dolphins.

The Sunday Times should do their homework before they title a story " Jet SKi's Kill Dolphins." That's not saying to much about their Newspaper. If it is proven that jet skier's DID kill the dolphins then they should be punished to the max.

Re: `Jetskis killed dolphins'---(Australia)

Rude have you tried to race a dolphin?

They love it, of course you're faster but if you circle around they come back for more, they also put themselves between you and reefs and sandbars and try to push you away from them.

I was amazed so I purposedely aimed at a sandbar I knew was there and every time they'd go in my way...

When you fall off your ski in the surf they circle around like they're checking you're ok...

Dolphins rock.

And once more, there is NO WAY you can hit a dolphin with a ski, even if you tried, hell a SHARK cannot catch a dolphin and a shark can go in 3 dimensions we're only 2 dimensions because, well, we float (most of the time)

No, I never on purpose.
But at a race in mex they were all over the place.
It is interesting how they have fun with us isn't it, though most people freek out when they see them.
The one good thing about seeing them at a race is you know there
are no sharks around to deal with.
I have never had the cahnce to swim with them either,
I never come of my boat and go swimming
