| Jet Skier Lost, Presumed Drowned---(Texas) Sent to me from WyoChic...Thanks! Quote: |
(Grapevine, TX) -- After looking for a missing jet skier late into the night, searchers took a few hours off before getting back out on Grapevine Lake this morning. A passenger wearing a life jacket drifted to shore about an hour after the jet ski overturned. She was so distraught she was unable to give much information about the accident. The jet ski's operator was apparently not wearing a life jacket, so searchers are not optimistic about his chances.

| Re: et Skier Lost, Presumed Drowned---(Texas) Hmmm, I wonder if the operator knew it is Texas law to wear a PFD on a watercraft. What a waste.

I really don't get why people don't wear them. The old excuses of "they're too bulky/uncomfortable" doesn't fly anymore, newer ones are so well designed you forget you're wearing it.

| Re: et Skier Lost, Presumed Drowned---(Texas) You mean they make vests now that are not orange and bulky. I will have to look and switch from my horsecollar one to the new style next time I ride. |

| Re: et Skier Lost, Presumed Drowned---(Texas) Why is this forum labeled "pwc news"? Browse the titles and you'll see that they're all accidents. Don't we all know that this stuff happens without posting it on our website? |

By posting these articles, if we can prevent accidents simply based on someone reading them, mission accomplished.
The majority of accidents caused/created/involving PWCs are by riders that dont know what they are doing. The line where people say "I didnt know about that" can cost people damage to their (or someone elses) property, cause injury or take a life.
Im not going to have any fellow rider hurt or killed because of lack of knowing how to ride safe....not on my watch.

| Re: et Skier Lost, Presumed Drowned---(Texas) What kills me is how much the Possum cops like to harass some, and are blind to others.
The complete burn is that Lake Lewisville and Grapevine are the two closest lakes to me. I've NEVER seen anyone out without PFDs.
fookin' retarted, some folks are.

| Re: et Skier Lost, Presumed Drowned---(Texas) It's amazing that it has to happen this way. I am brand new to the pwc world and after we got our ski's the first thing we did was buy some pfd's and you can't even blame expense because if you can afford the expense of the ski how can you put a price tag on your life or someone elses. Think and be safe, that's one of the reasons I am enjoying this site so much. It really has been informative for me. I have a family I want to enjoy this sport with and I really don't want to be one of the story's you post on this site. |

Welcome to the site. Everyone here is very helpful. And most everyone is smart enough to put safety first. We're basicly out on the water with motorcycles surrounded by suv's, rv's, and 18-wheelers.
