Ethanol proposal

Farmers Lobby EPA
For 15% Ethanol

Not satisfied by the high food prices that 10% Ethanol gasoline has wrought, the farmers and ethanol-makers are now petitioning the EPA to approve 15% ethanol on the way to 25%. Not only will this raise the price of food stuffs in the U.S., it will ruin most marine engines. Not one engine manufacturer approves the use of their engines with gasoline with a mixture greater than 10% ethanol. There are 18 million boats currently in operation in the U.S., and none of them have been designed, certified or warrantied to run on anything above E10. Already, with just 10% ethanol, the engine makers are inundated with service and repair problems that have stretched their reduced staffs to the breaking point. Boaters across America have had to pay for new carburetors, seals, O-rings, valves and fuel tank replacements. Unless all boaters act swiftly and with passion, the well-financed ethanol lobby will steamroll the EPA into 15% ethanol. Last year boaters were able to defeat an onerous EPA measure in Congress, and this year we again call on you to register your thoughts again to defeat the 15% ethanol proposal.

Re: Ethanol proposal

This blows. I cant beleve there thinking about doing this. They are probably going to keep a section of gas where they only use E10 but there prob gonna charge and arm and a leg for it like they do with race fuel. This really does blow. I dont want any problems with my boat

Corn is for cereal, not for gas.

Re: Ethanol proposal

Put up some links and form letters to our local, state and federal officials so we can at least have a fighting chance.

Re: Ethanol proposal

I am a farmer, I have never pushed for E15, nor E10, or E5. Blame your government, not the ones out trying to make a living like everyone else.

Also, your food prices will still be high. Price of machinery, fuel, fertilizer, and land has all skyrocketed. Just like anything else, you have to make a profit or you can't keep going.

Oh yeah, and your box of corn flakes has about $.03 worth of corn in it. So when the price goes up a $1 and you are told it is because of high grain prices, you might want to ask a few more questions.

Re: Ethanol proposal

Most cars are not designed for 15% ethanol either.

This proposal is going to be dead on arrival.

Re: Ethanol proposal

In canada only a small handful of gas stations have ethanol blended gasoline.
