Coast Guard rescues woman thrown from jet ski near Kiawah Island---(South Carolina)

[quote](Charleston-AP) May 21, 2006 - A Summerville woman was rescued by the Coast Guard near Kiawah Island after being thrown from her personal watercraft.

Searchers from Charleston County Rescue and the Coast Guard found 39-year-old Carla Durham Saturday. She was stranded on a sandbar near Kiawah Island. The search lasted about an hour.

Authorities say she was in good condition. Friends who had been on personal watercraft with Durham reported her missing about four hours after her group left Abbapoola Creek to travel on the Stono River.

Severe thunderstorms and high winds were reported across the Lowcountry just north of Charleston Saturday afternoon.[quote]

And none noticed she wasn't with them?? How far was the rest of the group from the sand bar she was found on? That's a serious "Buddy system" failure!
