Recent Purchase '93 SN SJ

I just picked up my first ski yesterday from a guy for $750. I'll be the first to admit that it needs some serious TLC and a fresh paint job, but I still think I got a good price on it. I know that is has a Coffman Sizzler pipe, Ocean Pro head and ride plate.. I believe. The White SN is my buddies who is solely responsible for this new addiction. Anyone have any suggestions where to start when stripping the paint? The last owner claims it was painted by a professional artist/building restorer, Rick Monrotus, but unfortunately he must have been drunk when he did it cause he painted over the first owners decals and registration numbers, which resemble the original decals shape. I've saved the thread The much needed and way overdue "how to paint your jet ski" thread... already.

I was going to get a vinyl cover from a PWC member but money just got tight and hours are being cut. Can a spray paint/rattle can paint job come out looking half way decent when on a budget? I'm probably going to get some "B" stock hydro too.

You got the zebra one!!

I had saw that on there quite a few times...it was a great deal!

Now, let me know when you want to ride..we got a good little crew that ride a bit south of ya

On a side note..whats your goals with the paint? Are you just wanting to get the black stripes off, or are you wanting to go a whole new color?

I personally use the Air Craft Remover stripper from walmart...price has jumped up quite a bit..around 8 dollars a can..but I spray on and let the stuff sit..then swim by the car wash or fire up the pressure washer and spray it off. Usually does a great job at removing the paint.

However, be aware of which way the stuff is flying...if that goo gets on you it will burn..and if it lands on your vehicle it will eat paint. .

Good deal.

Just don't use that ski to commit any crimes till you've stripped (not striped it, as it is already striped HA HA) ...

Re: Recent Purchase '93 SN SJ

I got two guys with ski's much more deep into the obsession than me so far, that I'll ride with mostly. We'll have to travel down and explore more waters. They got a place at the Ozarks so we'll be down there as well. I'm looking to completely strip it and paint it a new color. More than likely just a solid Black, Blue, dark red.. something easy. I'm into clean things, skis, cars, and of course the ladies. HAHA. I got the power washer so I might give that a try before the temp gets too low.

And FOX RIVER.. I did actually laugh out loud to that. The previous owner said that if I got stopped by water patrol that I didnt know him and stole it..

I'm pretty sure it was me. I've made some posts looking for some free hulls in the area.. Possibly.

They both have houses on the Little Niangua and make at least 3 trips a summer for about a week or so. I'll make sure to keep you updated on the dates well before. The more the better.

Count me in for sure. Depending on the planning, I can get more people..they have jobs though and have to ask off in advance.
