The new guy...1992 js550sx

Heres my ski..just bought it and learning to ride it! i need alot of information from you guys...i hear about alot of aftermarket stuff but dont know what anythings called...examp:handpole?rideplate? i know its the thing on the bottom rear but whats it do? how can i make this thing to ride smooth? and do i have an electric bilge pump? what can i do to this ski to make it ride good? im new to the ski world and just like to ride em and am not going to freestyle or anything..yet..oh and i fell a couple of times and the ski went around in circles but one time i went to do a sharp right turn and it just shot out and went straight really fast for about 10 seconds and finally started to do circles? idle to high? i live in Bullhead City if anyone wants to ride...or show me some stuff?

Re: The new guy...1992 js550sx

well, the first thing you need to do is get rid of those stock handlebars and put some 7 degree or 0 degree bars, and some decent grips on it.

a couple of things you can do that will help it handle better is a pump wedge and an extended aftermarket rideplate. the combination of those two will help keep the nose down under acceleration and minimize "porpoising". when you install a pump wedge, you will need to adjust your steering cable on the ends by loosening the 8mm locknut, and spinning the cable lock outward. there's one on the steering plate that the handlebars attach to, and one on the steering nozzel. you can also get what is called a quick-steer steering plate, or an attachment for your existing stock plate thast will increase the throw of your steering plate, and give you increased turning ability over the stock setup.

get an aftermarket pipe for it. either a half-pipe setup that utilizes the stock manifold, or scrap the manifold and everything for a 440 manifold and aftermarket pipe, or an aftermarket 550 manifold and pipe setup.

get a 15 degree or 15.5 degree stainless prop for it.

and welcome to the site.

post in the "wanting to buy" section of the forums. you will usually get a prompt response from members with lots of parts you need, with really good and reasonable prices.

ebay is another source for stuff, but it's chancy, as dealing with anyone on ebay usually is, unless is someone from these boards with a good reputable background. we will try and help you as much as we can with sorting those out, rest assured.

oh yeah, you need a top-loader intake grate too...lol

That switch is just a lockout for the start button... switched one way it will not allow you to press the start button.
