just bought an 04 octane!!

what do you think about these ski's? i've done some research on them but there's not much info on them out there. i'm the second owner of the ski and the guy i got it from said that he had only ridden it a handful of times since purchasing the ski new (he estimated 10 hrs and it looks as though he is right).

i haven't had the chance to ride it since all the lakes are frozen here, but i'm sure it is night and day in comparison to my 89 650 that i am used to riding.

is there anything else you can do to the ski to make it better? such as some addt'l mods etc...

whats the first mod you would do?

just looking for some input.. thanks!

Re: just bought an 04 octane!!

Those skis come pretty modded from factory! Looks super clean...did you get a good deal on it?

Only thing I have read is that they can be a bit hard to turn compared to other skis but who cares..they come stock with a Factory B pipe and aftermarket pump!

I know they are pretty hard to find unmolested.

Re: just bought an 04 octane!!

i feel like i got a good deal. it was definately more than i wanted to pay but for how nice the ski was i couldn't talk the guy down any lower than 3600.00 (started @ 4,000). the other thing is i have not seen one for sale anywhere near me(minnesota/North Dakota area) and i have been looking for a new ski for a long time now.

Re: just bought an 04 octane!!

I read up on these for a while last night and they say they don'e handle that well, anyways how do you cure that problem? also read up on reprograming the cdi by sending it to randy @ Watcon. what will this do to the ski and does it make a huge difference from the stock programed cdi? sorry if they are dumb question, i know damn near everything about 650's and js 550's/300's but these new skis are a little different and a little more expensive if you F*** something up on them.

whats the best ride plate? intake grate? they say "works is" what about jet dynamics?

Re: just bought an 04 octane!!

Blowsion makes tubbies for Octanes...should help the handling a lot.

Tubbie I and II Sponsons - Universal Fit -Screw On
Don't sell that SXI Pro, Yamaha SJ or Octane to buy an SXR to be competitive in racing or against your buddies on the waves or lake. The Tubbies are the equalizer !!
