Exciting times for PWCToday.com

OK, the cat’s out of the bag. It’s exciting and here’s what it’s all about.

PWCToday is going to become part of the Watercraft Superstore. The Watercraft Superstore is a new company. It is also owned by Greg Pickren, the current owner of PWCToday and SBT. (So you can all relax now, PWCToday has not been sold and I am still the admin.)

The Watercraft Superstore will be the most complete one stop shopping place on the web for PWC enthusiasts -- which of course all of you guys and gals are. It will offer over 5000 parts including trailer parts, towables (tubes), life vest, wet suits, riding apparel, anchors, safety supplies, engine parts, pump parts, soaps, waxes, batteries, chargers, and the list goes on and on. The site will also utilize HLSM software and offer OE parts. If it’s not for Jet Skiing, you won’t find it on the Superstore.

As for PWCToday, the look and feel will change a little but not much. The top 3 inches of the existing banner will change to allow forum users to click through to the shopping pages of the Superstore. The side banners filled with SBT stuff will change to feature Superstore merchandise. But other than that, it’s all the same. Categories stay the same, the database of course remains as is, and your usernames and passwords all stay the same. When you are in the Superstore, you will have links back to the forum. We also will update to the newest version of Vbulletin which has some really cool features.

As being part of the Superstore, there is some cool stuff we can do. For example, when the site goes live (hopefully next week), we will offer a free nylon life vest to any PWCToday member on his/her first purchase of $50 or more. We are also running specials on some cool PWC stuff. Like some really nice shorty wetsuits and neoprene life vest both for $39.95.

We have also committed to 2 page spreads (inside cover and page 1) for Ride, PWI, and Watercraft World for all of next year. This advertising will promote both the forums of PWCToday and the Watercraft Superstore. This is good because it will increase our PWCToday membership. And the way I see it, the more members we have, the more threads, the more posts, and the more fun for all of us.

As for those of you that say, “it’s changing to a commercial site and so it will suck”. That’s not really true. We’ve been flying banners and providing links to SBT products for years now. So the only thing really changing is that now rather than links to just SBT engine and pump parts, the links will navigate to over 5000 parts including just about any PWC accessory imaginable. And just because it is commercial does not mean that it’s bad. Both Greenhulk.net and Sea-doo.net are commercial sites these days and they are quite nice.

I am sure you guys have a ton of questions, so ask a way and I will do by best to answer them.

Thanks all,
Stephanie

::Slight dig:: Wow, that's so thoughtful of you guys!

::Undig:: Good luck on the new endeavor, sounds pretty sweet. I agree that it might be interesting to have a superstore with links to a forum that might have reviews of purchased items, etc...
...But tubes?! Tubing is to be done only in rough weather, or behind boats that can at least kick up enough wake for your knees to meet your forehead every once in awhile.. Sometimes stopping at the nose, just to say "hello..."

I figured the "funny stuff" last night was probably something of that nature.

Sounds great, Steph

I've always considered this a commercial site anyway so no big deal IMHO.
