How does your ski turn around when you fall?

Gentlemen,

I'm having great issue getting my 89 650sx to turn when I'm not on it. I've tried rigging up springs to the bars, I've heard that it should turn due to thrust, and I've heard that it turns due to a spring somewhere else!

Please set me straight- what makes it turn and how do you fix it!

Thanks

it turns from the water rushing over the nose. It is simply forcing it one way or the other. Turn your Itel down. Grease your steering bushings. The plastic disc's sandwiching your turn plate. Get a lanyard. It takes 5 min to install. Safer too.

The reply is much appreciated,
is the "turn plate" the aluminum plate that the bars attach to?

what wire did you hook your lanyard switch up to?

thanks

Yes. there should be a cotter type pin through a hole in the mounting bolt. Remove it then unscrew the large nut. pull the discs apart and grease. As far as the lanyard, it is just a face plate that you slide on to your side by side start and stop buttons. You can get one from John ziggler. It's like 15.00 for the face plate and another 10.00 for the lanyard. http://www.boatdealerworld.com/Wisco...air-13103.html

Does it matter that I have a vertical start stop switch?

Install a stronger spring between your steeringplates,
the spring makes your handlebars turn to the right so the jetski
will circle back to you,
make sure that your handlebars are not touching the ski when your handlepole is down, otherwise you should set your bars a bit higher!
if your ski makes a to big circle you should
set your idle screw a little bit back

I am sure they have a face plate for it. You are a lot safer with a lanyard than turning circles. I have been told a couple stories of pilotless jet ski's flying across the lake and smashing into things. LOL I never had a prob w/ my ski turning circles. 650 might be diff. Nontheless, It's a cheap mod that will save you the headache.

Re: How does your ski turn around when you fall?

Yep had a pilotless ski as well one time, my buddy had to go after it with his ski and jumped on it, but that was because the bars
where touching the ski while the pole was down, set the bars a bit higher
and the problem was solved, the problem with a lanyard is that it's killing your
battery, especially when you let someone ride who has no experience!
The steering plate are under your handlepole, one is where you bars are bolt on and the other one is attached to your pole, get it??
