Any way to "rewhiten" a oil colored gas tank?

Any way to make a tank look newer after it begins to take on that oiled up dark color?

Brake cleaner? That stuff will eat plastic so spray and wipe off quickly might do it

zig says to drop in a drum of high-strength bleach water with a cinder bock on top of it to hold it down, and let it set for awhile.

wouldnt the bleach make the plastic brittle? so, your tank could crack if you hit a hard wave.
