| Re: 550 and 650 questions the idle to wide open thing would be considered "poor throttle response" and most of the times when I have personally ran into this I needed to rebuild the carb. Not neccesarily with a rebuild kit either, sometimes just taking it apart and cleaning everything can make a world of difference.
when running on the hose most say you should not have the hose on wide open, your engine may never warm up if it is getting too much water. watch the pisser, and using a on/off valve mounted near the engine only turn the valve on until the pisser is pissing as much as usual on the water, as in a trickle rather then a full on spray.
remember to never have the hose on while the engine is not running, turn the hose off before shutting engine down and start the engine before turning the water on,.
a poor running ski out of water will only get much worse in the water.
