440/550 plastic base gasket

There are 3 or 4 threads that mention plastic base gaskets. Jetskimechanic was all over these. MrSki is not a fan but posted a few times on it. I couldnt find anything definate though. I still see them for sale on random websites so they are being used somewhere.

I found one in my box of stuff and its in unused condition and its bright neon yellow. I figured with that sweet color, it should add at least 10 HP.

Junk it? (of course I will cut the sides so dolfins dont get their noses stuck)
Run it dry?
Run it with some 1211?

How thick is it? Stock paper and copper are 0.020". As far as sealant goes I would use something like silicone or Permatex gasket glue (to eliminate blowing out the gasket).

Will have to check later. Looking at my calipers, .020in looks about right. Definately not thinner.

yup .020-.021 with the calipers. I will give it a try and see how things turn out.
