| Re: Tech question Why are you upgrading shafts? Most of the time people upgrade because they are having leaking issues. If this is the case with you, you must replace the floating bearing when you replace the driveshaft.
As far as the rubber plugs go. There is one on the impeller (splined) end of the shaft, but there isn't one on the engine (threaded) side of the shaft. Of course this only applies to the new (updated) driveshaft kit.
I would ASSUME that the older dual splined shafts have rubber stoppers on both ends. This is to protect the end of the shaft in the event of the splines bottoming out,
