Need advice/info before buying 99' 1100li

hey everyone, i found a 99 1100li that im thinking about buying and i was wondering if anyone had any info or advice before i do so. Currently the ski doesnt run but it does crank over. I offered $700 and the guy is going to take it. From what iv been reading, the fuel injection system isnt to trust worthy. anyway, for that price is it worth buying not knowing exactly what is wrong with it? anything would be helpful. Thanks!

Same FI system as a Kaw DI or Polaris DI ski's. It works fine but is hard to TS and parts are expensive. I would pass and find a 98 XL1200 or 98-2000 GTX-951 for a little more $ you will be happy.

If you do want the TS be sure to take it for a test drive for at least 20 min. Compression should be @125 and even. It may need jet pump bearings replaced since most people don't have them serviced until the go out and cause a lot more damage.

I have the Software, Cable, Manuals for that ski if you end up buying it then I will sell them as a set for $75.

Re: Need advice/info before buying 99' 1100li

Hi,
I Highly recommend a compression test. I just bought two of them, one ski has 150 even across and runs super. The other had 150, 150, 140 and I thought not too bad, right, wrong !!! I rode that one for an hour and baked the engine. Expensive lesson but I got a double trailer in great shape and 2 ski's, well.. one now.....for $1200. Cant wait to rebuild the blown engine over the wiinter, should be fun ???

150 seems high for a triple. It would ok for a twin, but triples are around 120ish. odd.

If you don't disable the FICT system your compression readings will be high.

No, I did not disconnect the FICT system. Guess that reasons the high reading. The ski does run great though.
