Adding sponsons

I want to add sponsons to my 94 Montego, I can't stand the sliding all over the place. The ski is way to hard to control IMO.

Does anyone know about how high (or low) on the hull to mount them? The XPs sponsons sit just above the water with no one on the ski. Should I just mount them just above the water line with no one on the ski or is there a better way? I don't remember where any of my other skis sponsons where when in the water.

Re: Adding sponsons

That is the fun part about that ski...But you can mount sponsons from another ski if someone has a 94-95 with sponsond they can get a picture of where they are mounted.

Re: Adding sponsons

There is an Arctic Cat kit for adding sponsons to that particular ski. They are smaller than average and when I got mine they had instructions on placement. Made a little difference, but the ski was still basically a slip and slice.

Re: Adding sponsons

I used sponsons off a 97 Montecarlo 770 on my 95 Montego 640.
I used the OEM fasteners, and that is no normal pop rivet. Also carefull placement is needed or it will pull one way. Measure 3 times drill 1 time

Montego on left without

With sponsons

Re: Adding sponsons

Yea that was it, like a pop rivet you can't feel crush. Works the best.
I used thred-sert's on the Daytona gauge pod as well. All looks O.E..
