Pump Removal & Impeller Change "Pics" Step by Step

Last year I had to remove my pump to change my impeller, so I took pics of each step, I thought these might help someone that would like to change there impeller

Quote:
before you remove the reverse bucket you can remove the thrust nozzle, then the reverse bucket

so start with pic #5, 6, 7, 8, then remove the reverse bucket, makes for removing the bucket alot easier without the nozzle in your way

1. remove the left bolt from the reverse bucket

2. remove the right bolt from the reverse bucket

3. remove nut & bolt from reverse bucket hinge

4. remove bolt from hinge & ride plate

5. remove nut from steering cable

6. remove nut from trim cable

7. remove hose clamp from cooling line

8. remove 4 bolts that hold the thrust nozzle on the pump

9. just a pic of pump after nozzle has been removed

10. remove the 4 bolts holding the pump to the hull

11. remove cone from pump

12. pic of cone removed

13. pic of pump removed

14. pic of pump

15. to remove the impeller from the pump you'll need to put the end of the shaft
in a vise and with the impeller removing tool in the impeller you'll need to
probably use a breaking bar to turn the impeller off the shaft....its on tight

16. pic of original compared to the Solas

17. pics of my Solas after getting some rocks through my pump

Your timing is impeccable! Make it a stinky, along with servicing the pump with new lube!

Go for it. You'll wish you had done it a lot sooner. It's like a different ski.

Make sure you retrieve the rubber insert back out of your old impeller's shaft hole and install it into you new one or you'll have to disassemble it again to do it. It is hard to see inside the splined hole but it has to be there.
