Glove Box Lid

Hello everyone as this is my first post here! Ive been a long time lurker but just recently got an account. I have a 2006 F12x that i am working on putting a self contained stereo system in. However, I am away at school and I need the Dimensions of the glove box lid as that is where i am planning on putting one or 2 speakers. I will be running a small sealed battery along with a mini motorcycle amp in a large otterbox or other waterproof box. For tunes i will have an ipod in the glovebox controlled by an ironman icontrol watch. The battery and amp will be underneath the front storage bin just forward of the fuel tank. I am going to run the speaker wires and power switch through a plug to allow me to remove the amp/battery for charging. I am looking at the Polk db461 4x6 coaxials, but im not sure if these will both fit on the glovebox lid. If anyone could tell me the dimensions it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Glove Box Lid

I don't think they will fit. The bottom of the glove box is blanked off, this is where I mounted my boost control adjustment knobs. I would check into mounting them [speakers] above the reverse lever, on both sides. That is a non watertight area.
You might look into a marine box speaker that can be mounted on/outside the hull.

Re: Glove Box Lid

using the mirrors for smaller speakers would be pretty damn sweet because i know the mirrors do nothing for me on the water. It would look factory and project the sound great.

Re: Glove Box Lid

Yea i thought about the mirrors but i dont know how that would affect my resale? Probably not much because it would be added "cool factor" but some people are weird about stuff like that... I am going to look into it more when i get back home but if yall have any ideas i'd be glad to hear them! I want this to be something that could be easily duplicated but not be a total hack job!

Re: Glove Box Lid

lol, i dont think resale of anything water related could get any worse, yet alone with added products on anything whether its a car or anything you never really get back what you put in. my vote is for the mirrors but you cant fit very big speakers. ive seen boost gauges put in the mirror and it looks great

Re: Glove Box Lid

Yea man i have heard 3.5s and they dont sound that great..but i havent compared them to 4x6s either so I cant say much about those... I wonder if one good quality 6.5 run in a bridged configuration on the amp would be good or even better than the pair of 4x6s?

Re: Glove Box Lid

Get 4x6 speakers mounted on a plate. Trim the plate to fit just inside the mirror housing and you are set. Its been done before and can be found around this site.
