| Fixing a F-12X I had bought a F12x a few months ago that someone had wrecked at the beach and I bought it from an insurance company and am trying to rebuild it. I believe it sat upside down in salt water for a while, mirrors and everything were broken. Engine compartment was full of sand. Ive done everything to make it run like new. Ive sprayed the whole block with Blaster. Some things are rusted, I got a new actuator on the way (thanks dav_dman) and the turbo is fine.
Is there anything I am overlooking that may affect performance that could be messed up? I dont know a whole lot about jetskis (just the basics) |

| Re: Fixing a F-12X Yeah, I know where that is. I think theres a sandbar somewhere around there where a lot of people hang out. |

I think that was called Catawba lake .Not to far from the Newton/Conover exit off of I40. It feeds from the dam into Lake Norman. I have been on that one too. Nice lake and a lot of people do hang out on the sandbar. |

| Re: Fixing a F-12X you've changed the oil and blown out the wastegate? you might list details of what you've done. Did water get inside the engine? Pull the plugs and turn the engine over to see if any water comes out of the cylinders? Good luck and keep us posted!

| Re: Fixing a F-12X Water did get in the motor. Ive changed the oil 4 times and put all new plugs in it. Theres still a tiny bit of water in it, but i need run it for a while to warm it up. I took the wastegate out and its sitting in diesel fuel and oil (it seemed kind sticky but feels good now). I also drained the fuel tank and put a water removal addative in it with fresh gas.
Good to know on the blaster, I'll get some crc tomarrow. |

| Re: Fixing a F-12X you're pretty good for 19. I bet you end up makin' that ski do exactly what you want it to. I've got a wiring harness and other parts so keep us informed and we'll help you get it going as cheap as possible. The wastegate seloniod will corrord and stick too.. there is a procedure for testing but you should get some crc into it as well. I'll ck the faq thread for the testing procedure.

Good to know on the blaster, I'll get some crc tomarrow. | Have you been able to run it at all or at least turn it over. Hopefully it's not a rusted mess inside and the rings stuck in the cylinders.

| Re: Fixing a F-12X I got the actuator today, I'm hoping to get it on it this weekend. It runs good now. When I got it most of the oil drained out from being upside down. I'm just glad nobody started it afterwards. I had a hard time getting it to turn over, but after working with it I got it to start. I changed the oil first. It looked clean for about 30 seconds and turned milky. By now I've got almost all of the water out (after the 4th change). It would stumble every now and the but it seems fine now. I ran it for 45 min on the trailer last weekend and seems excellent.
This weekend I'll try and put the wastegate back in and see how it does. Does it have to be at a certain rmp for the wastegate to open? Ive heard people say it has to be under a load for it to work properly, is that true? |
