DIY 04 aquatrax f12x reverse grommet install

Just ordered the 2 of 4 grommets for my ski for the reverse. Wondering if there is a DIY on it or how easy it is.

The reverse bendix type mechanism [that is by the bucket] has a metal bushing the swells from corrosion and makes the reverse very stiff [I pulled off my handle]. I enlarged the hole in the plastic and it has worked great for several years.

Thats a good idea and will try that out seeing how mine is nearly impossible to move. But i am taking on a lot of water and narrowed it down to these "lock collars" as reva calls them. Anybody ever do them?

On the bendix mechanism [that flips the bucket] on the left side of the reverse bucket there is a metal bushing that corrodes/swells. Just take a round file and enlarge the hole where it goes through [in the plastic] and your reverse will be easier than when new.

Re: DIY 04 aquatrax f12x reverse grommet install

I recently pulled this ski out of my bro's warehouse to get it going. Turbo was stuck, wastegate is rusted badly, and it took on a lot of water. Got the tubo free and there is no play and spins fine. I found that there was not even a grommet in the reverse so I replaced it. Holds water on the trailer. Found good two feet of rope when I took the pump off. Impellar looks good. Took it out today, took it to 60, let off, and around 20, the light came on. So I took it back.
I know I need to pull codes but where could water be coming in from and does that cause the warning light to come on?

Which light? If it is the FI light most likely it is because your waste gate is stuck. You may need a new wate gate actuator.

What do you mean by it holds water on the trailer? As mentioned in some other posts, your going to have to have someone back it into the water while you look inside and try to see where it's entering the hull if you can. Is that what you mean? If you do this and no water, I'd fire it up while on the trailer to see if you get it then. Obviously, depending on where it is you still may not see it but you should get a good idea of the area.

It sounds like it runs pretty good if you got it up to 60. I'm surprised it didn't over boost with the WG rusted shut. You said the WG is rusted badly. Is that just surface rust on the turbo or do you think its really bad inside? You can pull the actuator line and apply a little air pressure to see if it moves. It doesn't take much pressure to move it. Your right though, you have to pull the codes or you'll just be guessing all day. Does the light come on when you back it down to 20 or when you just cruise at 20.

Found that it was leaking from the exhaust side of the turbo. Have to pin point for sure. It's completely rusted along with the actuator. I pulled a few chunks of rust off of it. Yeah it pulled good to 60 and felt like it still wanted to go. Only when I let off, the light came on which assures me that it's the actuator.
