Re: 2003 honda aquatrax r-12x

I've got 420 hours on my 03 and still running like new

It looks like it was well taken care of but since your local I'd ask if you could try it out

you might want to take the cover off behind the seat to look at the turbo and waste gate area to see if its rusted, I noticed he didn't include a pic of that, and thats the area that will rust if you don't take care of it

Re: 2003 honda aquatrax r-12x

new injectors is a very odd thing to do. As h2o said, see if the wastegate actuator is rusted or any other indication of sitting or being swamped. Engine looks clean.

Re: 2003 honda aquatrax r-12x

I wouldn't buy an aquatrax without test riding it. Everything can run great on a trailer. If the turbo is not functioning your aquatrax will usually give no indication of this while reving it on a trailer. If the turbo is toast you are looking at $2200 - $3000 to replace it. No one rebuilds them unless you get lucky to find someone on this board to do it.

So how should the jetski run when I test drive it? I've never had a jet ski so I really do not know what to expect. If the turbo is not good what should I notice?

Re: 2003 honda aquatrax r-12x

if its good itll run high 50s low 60s on the speedo. you will know if the turbo isnt pushing boost it just wont pull very hard probably run in the low 40s or so. but check the turbo for rust you can search on here it is the #1 topic in this section.

its easy to prevent if its not rusty, but if it is its gonna be hard to take care of it. BTW i sent him a question on EBAY about the condition of the turbo and wastegate, i will let you know what he says if i dont buy it....totally kidding lol looks like a clean ski.

Re: 2003 honda aquatrax r-12x

If you do get to ride it (and you should) and it's not exhilarating to you, chances are it's got a problem. It could be a minor one or a big buck one. Before I changed things on my ski I could nail the throttle and it would pull pretty hard. Then when the turbo built pressure it felt like it had dropped into a passing gear and pull harder. There was no doubt the turbo was working. If you do buy it you'll find that if you perform the regular maintenance that any machine should get, it will be a very reliable ski for you. If you need help, ask if you can have it checked out by a professional you trust. As these other guys have said, check the turbo area. Look at the waste gate actuator for rust.

Re: 2003 honda aquatrax r-12x

That ski looks super clean!

As others have said..see if you can test ride it. If seller makes any excuses as to why you can't,then walk away from it.

Make sure it has a clean lien free title as well. Price is definitely fair!
