Dumb girls!!!!

So me and some friends bought jet skis for this summer, and yesterday we had a party at my friends lake house. This one kids girlfriend takes out his polaris 750 triple cyl. 1993ish not sure on the model. and she brought a friend on the back of it and flipped it over, then got back on it and it flipped again. I see them in the water about 200 yards away so me and another guy go to the rescue and only the nose and handlebars are above the water!!! Though for sure it was going to the bottom of the lake. So we tow it back and get most of the water out of the cyl. and intake, but the thing was completely submerged. do you have to drain the crank case? and how? never got it running, the carbs need to come off. Do you guys think this thing is salvagable or better off to part it out?

Re: Dumb girls!!!!

Take the spark plugs out of all the cylinders... Crank it over for a bit, and it will spit out the water.... Then fill the spark plug hole with some WD-40, or Marvel Mystery Oil, and the Intake with the stuff as well... Leave it soak for a bit, then repeat the first step(Crank it over and let it spit everyting out....

Watch out it will spit this stuff out... Make sure you are not doing it right beside another vehicle, or the oil will get on it... Just takes a bit of cleaning after that... Clean the plugs, and the thing should start right up....

Re: Dumb girls!!!!

Iam the friend with the lakehouse... and we did do that. One of the first things we did was get the water out of the cylinders. And I will correct him above it is a 92 Polaris 650 triple... We had it kicking a couple times but no go. Are there any drains on the bowls of those carbs?

Also charrette is being very kind on how he described it above, trust me you guys have never seen a ****show like this before!

Re: Dumb girls!!!!

You need to do whatever possible to get it running right away. Letting it sit for even a night with water in the motor is a big no no...might already be too late. It takes at least a good hour of running them to completely dry everything out. Did you try putting a small amount of 2 stroke gas down each cylinder, then putting plugs back in and attempting to fire? You should be able to get it going...it may run like crap and foul some plugs, but it needs to be ran.

Re: Dumb girls!!!!

Do what nightrider05 said, plus check the fuel tank and lines for water. A little gas down the carb too while trying to start it, it is very very important to get it running as soon as possible.

Re: Dumb girls!!!!

yeah we did try that, and we also tried starting fluid, got it to spit and sputter a little bit, but never got it to actually stay running. We did get the majority of the water out but definetly not all. A bad situation is just going to get worse now because its a work week again, its supposed to rain all week, and it's dark when we get home from work. Oh boy...

Re: Dumb girls!!!!

Guy I know son hit a rock and sank a 2002 STXR on the Taunton river in Fall river. Rescue towed the ski with only the nose sticking out of the water. We had it running a few days later. Salt water too.

The boat ran good for a couple of years until my buddy sucked up someone's tow rope in the water at full throttle and stopped the motor and wrecked the crank.

You can save it but you gotta get it running and back in the water.

Re: Dumb girls!!!!

Thanks for everyones input. we will have to try to get it running asap. this thing has 3 carbs I think, should we remove them and clean or just get the machine running and hope the water comes out?
