Converting to Pre-Mix

Hi Guys

I'm converting my SLX780 to pre-mix. Can someone tell me if I have to remove the gearshaft?

The reason I ask is because I can't get the bushing out, is this a press fit?

Thanks

Remove gearshaft with needle nose pliers.

That's what I've been trying to do, but the bushing won't come out first. So how do I get the bushing out which seems to be pressed in?

Re: Converting to Pre-Mix

Try needle nose vicegrips, wiggle back and forth and pull out at the same time it will come out in one piece.

Well I'll be buggered, I finally got the damn thing out. It need a hell of a lot more heat than I imagined. but at least it's out.

Now, I've read two different messages regarding resistor on the tank wires, is it a 33 or 100 ohm?

Thanks again!

Did you heat the engine case to remove the gearshaft? Is the engine still in the ski? I'm not too great with electrical problems, and not to take anything away from this site but, If you go over to greenhulk.net it has a lot more active polaris forum and you can get any polaris question answered quickly, by multiple people. If your gonna work on a polaris greenhulk.net is the place to go.

33 ohms is the resistance for a full tank, 240 ohms means empty.

100 ohms would be somewhere in between.

33 ohm resistor is what you want to install

Best installation location for the resistor is inside the electrical box, where it is protected from moisture and corrosion. Make sure it is well insulated from the other terminals and wires. Connects between the ground terminal and the oil sense terminal.

Disconnect the original two wires that lead to the tank oil level sender, and remove the wires entirely or tape the ends out of trouble.
