Re: 2003 polaris freedom

you should at least check the oil in the tank everytime you fill up, but a full tank of oil should last a few tanks of gas...

Amsoil HP Injector is a good oil to use with the stock Polaris oil injection system.

There are other brands of oil that are also very good. The TCW3 oil spec is the absolute minimum oil spec for the Polaris engines.

Buy a good quality, name brand 2-stroke oil with at least a TCW3 rating. A synthetic or semi-synthetic oil is generally a better oil, but there are some fine non-synthetic oils on the market.

The genuine Polaris oils are also quite good, but tend to be expensive.

Do take the time to become familiar with how your 2-stroke engine works. It slowly consumes the oil as the engine is run, and it is designed to do so.

It is important that the oil tank never become empty, or the engine will be damaged by running it without oil. Since it uses oil slowly, you might not notice the level dropping, which is why the advice is to top off the oil tank with each gasoline tank refill.

If you just fill the oil tank and leave it alone, the oil capacity will last through several full tanks of gas, which is a lot of riding.

You don't need to worry about filling the oil every time you refuel, it is just a good practice to have.
