The stators are usually the culprits on these units but you really need the whole stator upgrade kit,check with Randy at WATCON for a stator upgrade kit and see what he can sell you one for.

Re: 2001 polaris virage ignition prolems

which virage do you have, TX, TXi, etc?

sounds like a fuel related issue to me. if it is the carburated modle, you may have a bad, or leaky accelerator pump. if it is fuel injected, it is common for the pump to fail.

also, 600 for a CDI sounds crazy high for a price, although, i cannot look it up, with out knowing what machine you have for sure.

like terry had said, typically, you cannot get just the CDI, ( new any way) they come in an upgrade kit, CDI, and stator assy. they are matched, and you cannot interchange them. ( this is the carbed models again). these are a common failure, but when ever we see this, you typically loose all spark.

Re: 2001 polaris virage ignition prolems

The first one of these I ran across I could have sworn it was carburation too,but it turned out to be a stator problem,it would do the hesitation deal the if you messed with it long enough you could get it to pick up rpms and go,then it would just cut off at different rpms for no apparant reason.

OK, 800, or 1200???

these are known for ignition troubles, and it could very well be the stator, or CDI. polaris has had three different upgrades. ( all of the polaris industries motors had ignition troubles).

Re: 2001 polaris virage ignition prolems

turns out for this particular machine, these ARE listed separate. persoanlly, i would still do the stator, and CDI together.

stator assy = 258.00
CDI = 283.00
ign coil pack = 86.00

if needed, i can get any these from proalris for you, in a few days.
