Hi guys,

I have a 1990 550sx. I am only firing on 1 cylinder, and after pulling both plugs and looking, it looks like only 1 plug is sparking.

im guessing i need new coils, right?

does anyone know where to get good coils for a relatively cheap price? i remember seeing a coil kit for like $65 but cant remember where it was.

I see atlantic has only the 440 CDI kit for like $150.

Cut back the spark plug wire first, alot of times, the wire ends get worn out. (I assume you tried new plugs already). You can buy a complete e-box on ebay for less than $100 usually... I've got a box here - missing one plug boot - that you could have for $45 + shipping, if you want.

Jetski Haven (I think- not enough coffee yet) - I think they are the ones who do the coil rebuilds - I hear that they are darn near bulletproof.

its okay that the plug boot pulls right off the wire right?

Yeah, it is ok, the plug boots do that. There is a spot to run a zip tie around the newer plug boots, I think them slipping off is why they did that. Once you cut it back and are putting the boot back on, use a little dab of rubber cement to keep it from slipping, but not a ton of glue - you may have to cut them back again if this works!
