What's the Baddest Intake Setup for the FX1?

I'm looking now as it's Winter, and getting ready to tear into my ski. Wondering what intake setup works best with a Factory B, or other Pipe.

46? 48? Duals?

Novi? Buckshot?

I rode one of those before. It was pretty quick as I recall but that was a long time ago.

That's the tricker setup then? What about the bigger, more intricate carbs like the Buckshot? That thing sounds sweet!

Yes, thats a great set up for the 61X. Its even better if you put a BlackJack carb on that manifold. You ust have to oval out the mount holes on the bottom of the carb to fit on the wider stance of the Wetjet intake manifold.

Sweet,

I said buckshot before, Blackjack is the one I was thinking of. It doesn't have a standard venturi, but sprays fuel from all around the inside correct?

To run this carb, I'd need a different manifold then?

Great question bro...I was wondering what everyone was doing to upgrade that side of the motor...
i see other dudes ski pic's and most have a single carb setup....so i was always wondering why not duals?? and there are some really nice tricked out FX1's to look at one here and the X...

are duals just that much tuffer reliablity wise?

If ya have a pipe why not duals?

Every single standard aftermarket carb out there will bolt to any aftermarket manifold. You may have to open up the manifold opening a bit to match it to the carb size, but it will bolt up.

FX1's came with 61X engine cases. Those are made for single carbs.
There aren't that many dual carb 61X intake manifolds out there. The 61X cases are best used with the single carb setup.
If you want duals, just buy 62T cases and use those. Better cases, ready for dual carbs.
While properly tuned duals do give more power, the difference isn't anywhere near as dramatic as stock exhaust vs aftermarket pipe.

Re: What's the Baddest Intake Setup for the FX1?

if your looking for a carb, i can part with a 48 mm riva powerbomb (like new) and a pro k filter with outwear.

as for your intake, just bore it out to match the 48 with a dremel tool and your good to go....

Re: What's the Baddest Intake Setup for the FX1?

It really depends on what you're doing. My FX1 has blueprinted/ported superjet pump w/bored reduction nozzle, b pipe, 180 head, lightened flywheel, jetted 46sbn and its too much for the surf, it isn't even fun to ride. Quarter throttle and my boat jumps out of the water, it has proven to be more difficult with my recent upgrades to ride the waves like I used to.

For the surf, I would run a completely stock motor with superjet pump. Flatwater - do as you will. If my motor was a bored/ported 760 w/ trim I could probably flat water flip.

Re: What's the Baddest Intake Setup for the FX1?

IMO&E a big single hits harder on the bottom than duals, granted this is based on Kawi small bore motors

Mullet did you get that dash piece???
