My FX1.. Intro and questions!

Hey all... just wanted to introduce myself, and my FX1.

The past two years, I've basically learned how to ride it... I can carve, and tailstand... but now I want to learn more, and even try out the ocean.

I know it has a b-pipe... but that is all I'm sure off, What are the first mods I should do in order to get it ocean ready, and a good platform to learn freestyle on?

I'm assuming turf and footholds are the priority... followed by a rideplate/grate then pump, then more engine mods... but any more specifics?

Is this a good ski to learn flatwater freestyle? I've heard SJ's can be better for this...

Thanks!!!

Re: My FX1.. Intro and questions!

if your gonna be doing freestyle then I suggest putting a superjet pump into it. Also an ADA head, MSD enhancer, lightened flywheel, footholds to name a few others. I am doing all this to mine at the moment.

any links to a pump diy? I'm def. interested in doing that, do you have a ballpark cost for parts? How hard is the work?

Would you mind elaborating on the ADA head, and MSD enhancer?

Also... is it acceptable to have the flywheel lightened, or is aftermarket the way to go?

Re: My FX1.. Intro and questions!

The ADA head is an aftermarket girdled head, it raises compression and has better cooling abilities. The MSD enhancer raises the rev-limiter and has a more aggressive timing curve. The pump mods are a real bytch, I bought another fx-1 that had the sj pump already installed, and removed the pump to put in my ski. The flywheel I will be running is a stock lightened one. You can also put a Kawi 650 pump into your ski, but Irefuse to taint my Yamaha with Kawi parts, so I went with the superjet pump. I have a build thread with pics and info on what Im doing about 4-5 threads below this one in the fx-1 section.

I appreciate it man! Will the raised compression affect required octane? I use 93...

Does the enhancer affect reliability?

Do you take yours into the surf?

Re: My FX1.. Intro and questions!

The MSD enhancer will not have any negative effect, only positive. Just depends on how high of compression you go with the ADA head. You can get different cc domes. Im running 35cc domes and Im at 180psi on pump gas.(91 octane)

I do not take mine into the surf because of the salt. I will however jump any wake I come across.lol
