And has this happened to you?
This has happened to me in lake michigan, guy fell off, and held on to the handlebars, he kept going in circles and had to let go but let it go right into the beach that had a rock pile, I never saw a ski fly as high and as far onto land, beat that standups!!!!

Re: Yamaha Lanyard/Tether

I was riding an SJ that was heavily modified. I had never met the guy that owned the ski but knew him via other people. It was my first try on a standup. Was starting to get the hang of it.

I had one of those wrist lanyards with the foam band that goes around your wrist and sinches down.

I fell off of the ski, the foam ripped completely away leaving the ski running and me no where near it. Luckily, the thing just died. It was the only time it died that day. Maybe it would have circled back, I don't know? There was a good bit of chop. Now I change my lanyard about once a year.

Re: Yamaha Lanyard/Tether

That is why you have the idle turned way down, so it will idle on shore out of the water, but in the water under load it will putt and putt, and then die.

Re: Yamaha Lanyard/Tether

I have the type lanyard that has a slipping loop that fits around your wrist. The first time i ever rolled my waverunner over i felt that tug on my wrist. I instinctively wanted to close my hand with my fingers extended allowing the loop to slip off my wrist... As you can imagine it kept on running although at idle speed. Luckily my wife was riding along with me and she pulled me over to the waverunner and i pulled myself around to pull the lanyard... If she wasn't there with me i would have been up the creek. Since then i ( and whom ever is riding with me on my other waverunner) always hooks the loop to their PFD/Life vest via a buckle.

Go to "The Walmart" as Larry the Cable Guy says, and buy one there. They have one with a few different types of clips right on them.

Less than $10 and you have a lanyard that fits all kinds of machines.
