Octane level and premix correlation
Is there any benefit to using a high octane gas with a premix engine (about to install a block off plate).

Will 93 octane preform any better than a 87 octane in the 701 engine?

if its a stock motor, i'd just run what yamaha suggests, higher octane is only needed with modifications, timing, compression, pipes.. 93 wont help anything if the motor doesnt need it.

Low compression ...low octane...and you will lose performance vs gain if you run high octane because it burns colder and slower to help prevent Detno....run 87
