2000 Superjet Carb Settings

Can anybody help with the carb settings for my 2000 SJ?

The engine is stock but I have fitted a factory b "wammer" mod pipe. The flame arrestors are stock with 2 of the 3 gauze removed. I have tried the recommended jets in the factory b instructions (145 main and 120 pilot) and changed the stock spring to 95g. Also have set the high speed screw to 1 1/2 turns and low speed screw to 2 1/2 turns. The ski is now very sick.

Any help would be appreciated.

The description "very sick" does not give enough info to make a suggestion on which way to go. If you give us more info on what its doing, maybe we can help.

Things like: how does it start hot/cold? idle hot/ cold, part throttle cruise, throttle response, and plug color/condition would be helpful.

I can see that I wasnt very clear on the problem so here is some more info...

Basically, the engine will not rev at all. Similar to how it feels when one cylinder goes down. This has only started since fitting the factory pipe. All was well before this.

Think I've made some progress on this problem though. I looked on www.FactoryPipe.com to check that I have got the correct instructions. They list instructions for "701 superjet limited and modified" (these are the instructions shipped with my pipe) and instructions for "701 superjet limited 96 and up. When I checked the jetting specs for both there is a significant difference in the recommended starting point. My instructions state 145/120 jets and the limited 96+ state 135/70. On reading this I refitted the stock 70 pilot jets and the pickup is now instant.

My settings are now with 145 main and 70 pilot. I have got to try this on the water now though but it is obvious that the engine is revving more freely.

I guess that my original question should have been is there anybody who can recommend a good starting point with the jets with the setup that I have descibed.

I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks.

I would run the 135 mains. This is what I am running in my buddies stock 98 with the same pipe. I think you will find this takes care of the problem.
When you say "sick" my guess is your engine is choking on too much gas with 145's.

Thanks JM, I think your right about the engine choking. I'll try the 135s. What size pilot are you running in your buddies ski, is it the stock 70s?

I also run 135 Main Jets. If that does not do the trick then try running the 115gram springs.

Good luck.
