Supercharger washers

Is there any way by looking that you can tell if say a 2005 RXT has had the ceramic shim washers upgraded to the steel ones?

Re: Supercharger washers

yes, pull the SC out, the metal washers will be either gold or light silver, the OEM ceramic ones are dark brownish/black.. but i seen the updated (OEM gold) ones breaks also, i use the RIVA ones for customers.. havent had a problem with them. some ski's are running 8600 rpms on rec boats trouble free.

Re: Supercharger washers

Same thing as the ceramics, break apart and drop into the motor. Luckily no motor damage. Just had to replace the oil pumps and clear the motor of pieces.

Re: Supercharger washers

They crack and drop down, at least they don`t get ground up like the ceramic ones did...
usually improperly set slip moment torque or not being checked causes them to slip and get hot...
Back when, GH had their own washers and I had zero trouble with the SC, but I also kept a close eye on it... unfortunately it is a lesson learned when the ceramics fail and everything goes to sh-t!...
