Unhappy Supercharger questions

Hey ! Back again with some sc questions :

I own a pair of stock 05's, pretty sure they have the sc issue so I'm going to have them redone. When is another story but it will be done. I've been told they need to be continuously rebuilt or at least inspected every 100 hrs >>>>> ok fine so the question:

With the ONLY goal being longevity and dependability, is the stock kit with the upgraded metal washers ok or should I use the Riva stuff with ceramic bearings and coated washers to achieve my goal >>>>>> OR >>>>>>>> Is my goal unreachable where I should just knuckle under follow the S.O.P. ?

Thanks !!

Re: Supercharger questions

Use the Riva washers. If you're going to do it, do it right. The upgraded metal washers (08+) from Sea Doo still are not as good as the Riva washers, but from what I understand, they are far less suceptible to breaking apart than the ceramic ones. They're only 109 bucks.

Personally I would have yours redone ASAP and honestly I would not ride them anymore until you get them fixed. If your ceramic washers shatter they will likely take your engine with them. That would be quite costly.

IF you're going to ride them anyway, make sure not to chop the throttle (let off the throttle slowly!) and let off the throttle a bit when the ski comes out of the water. However, it seems like it's just a ticking timebomb until you get it fixed.

EDIT-I would just go with the whole Riva rebuild kit as it includes the washers and the bearings. I think it is like the same price as the Sea Doo rebuild kit anyway.

Re: Supercharger questions

Thanks and your right, your all right and I should park them before they waste away however ...... I'm a betting man so I'm going to try for Labor day and I will use the Riva stuff. Who knows, I might make it intact... right?

Re: Supercharger questions

Yeah, you might make it intact. After all they have gone a couple of years. Just don't chop the throttle and let off the throttle when the ski comes out of the water.

Good luck.

PS-Do some searching on Greenhulk, you might change your mind

Re: Supercharger questions

I would just send them to jerry at greenhulk.com and ask for standard bearings and steel washers of any brand dont bother with ceramic bearings. he has a super fast turn around time and does hundreds of them.

Re: Supercharger questions

Hi There

Hope I'm not going over the same 'ol same 'ol But..I have just bought an 04 GTX LTD SC with 32 hours on it..Love the Ski! Here are my question(s)... I would asume I have the downlevel wahers etc. in the super charger. Would it be wise to remove the SC and replace washers now? (ski now out for the winter). And if so... should I have it done by someone in the "Know"? (I spent 18 years building race cars..(BMWs etc),Should I go with the metal washers ? Is there a better aftermarket kit than the one SeaDoo sells. And last but not least are they avaliable in Canada?

Thanks Bunches!

BTW ..Have been reading all the diffrent threads..Excellent Info sharing!!

Re: Supercharger questions

That's easy , yes to the removal and yes to the upgrade. Rebuilt by pro or Joe? Consider this........ Green hulk charges about $400 turn key shipped to your door ( per unit and he does this everyday ) . If you do it yourself the kit is $298.00 plus tools of $48.00 and the responsibility . Remember, we have high speed rotating equipment contained in a light weight housing. Failure , failure to check something, forgetting something or any misinterpretation of an exact measurement or procedure and the failure takes out the engine to the tune of $2100 for a SBT rebuilt . Are you that good ?

According to the experts, There is no big difference between the Riva washers and stock unless your racing the machine also and I don't know about Canada.... I would think so since the machines are made there.

Sup 2 u bud .........

Re: Supercharger questions

spinning at 45,000 rpm theres no room for error! I rebuild them and its easier the more you do but I advise sending it to Jerry (greenhulk) he will spot any potential problems and do it right, fast, and fair price.
