Re: gtx 4 tec

When you get the beep, push the set button 5 times to display the code.
On the 03 GTX, the front oil sensors were a problem, could be the same on yours.

Thats just it when i do push the set button 5 times I get no codes??Could it be because its out of the water? This happens when its running in thr yard..no hose hooked up,could it just be the temp sensor?

Re: gtx 4 tec

If you are running it for more than a minute without the hose hooked up, I'd say it's overheating.
The engine is cooled by the antifreeze when the ride plate is in the water, but the exhaust is cooled by lake water or the hose.

Re: gtx 4 tec

put the hose on and run it and if all good take it out but certainly sounds like overheat sensor in the waterbox

Re: gtx 4 tec

I had almost the same thing happen to me but I was in the water and it only happened when I got up to wot. My check light came on also. I changed my oil to amsoil marine grade and changed my spark plugs and the problem went away. What kind on oil are you using in your machine?

Re: gtx 4 tec

Had similar problem with engine going into limp mode and no fault code. Changed oil pressure switch which is on the front side of the engine and problem solved. Part ran about 31.00 from dealer.

Re: gtx 4 tec

I had a similar thing happen with my 02 gtx 4-tec just yesterday. This is my first 4 stroke and yesterday was the first time out on the water with it. After running it for about an hour I got one long beep and the check light. Pulled over and checked the oil and the coolant and everything was good. Went to take it back to dock and nothing else happened and it ran fine, so I took off again. Then after riding for about 5 minutes it seemed to have a loss of power, it wouldn't ever get up to full speed. Sounds similar to what you guys are saying. Could it be the spark plugs or something else?
