Difference in 4-Tec engines

I am picking up an 03 GTX Supercharged today that needs an engine. Was wondering what the differences are over the years on the 4-tecs.

Thanks in advance

Re: Difference in 4-Tec engines

What's the difference in the 215hp and the 185hp that came in the 03 supercharged?

The 215-hp engine has an innercooler. It was introduced on the RXP in 2004 I believe.

Re: Difference in 4-Tec engines

Assuming you are replacing the long block only for SC....these years reference out as the same long block assembly:

2003-2005 GTX 4Tec SC
2003-2005 GTX 4 Tec SC LTD
2004 RXP SC
2005 Challenger 1800
2005 Speedster 200 SC
2005 Sportster 4 Tec SCIC & Sportster SC
2006 Challenger 180 SC
2006 GTX SC
2006 RXP SC
2006 RXT
2006 Speedster SC & SCIC

There are differences between the normally aspirated (NA) and the SC engines. I am not sure what they are...but they show as a different long block PN. Someone has already noted the diff in HP for the intercooled version vs non-intercooled.

Re: Difference in 4-Tec engines

there are differences in the crank locating position for the flywheel due to different electrics in later engines, the 215 has a different tooth count on the gear that drives the s/c which gives more boost thus needing intercooler. The 06- engines have no oil restricter in the block and use a different rocker shaft to suit so you need to be careful what head block combo you use.
for your ski and s/c engine from 03-05 will work just fit you original flywheel and electrics unless you buy a complete 215 with electrics and s/c then you need to change fuel regulator in the tank.
