'06 RXT with a "engine that went out and the computer along with it"

What is something like this worth and how much work is it to get running? She claims that "a flywheel came off and damaged the engine" and when I asked how many hours it had, she "had no idea because the computer went out along with the engine." She's asking $4k, but I'm thinking that is high since an engine from SBT is like $2200. Not sure on what the "computer problem" could be. When I asked what the extent of the engine damage was, she of course "really has no idea."

Should I even bother with this? I have no idea how firm she is on price, but she claims it is in excellent condition otherwise. Of course, I can't take her word for it based on previous experiences.

Bad motor, bad brain, $4K price tag,......................RUN!!!!!

Look around for perfectly running examples for $5000 instead.

$5k?? So essentially what you're saying is that this is probably worth like $2500, at best, IF I felt like doing the work?

Wish they were $5k around here. Best price I've found locally for a running example of an RXT is $6900.

I was kinda thinking the same, but it is like 80 miles away. Based on previous experience, it is always worse than they say though.

Re: '06 RXT with a "engine that went out and the computer along with it"

My mistake, it is actually an '05. She has no idea on the hours.

They owe $4k so at first she said she wouldn't go any lower, but now she's asking how much I'd like to pay when I suggested that if it were a supercharger issue it could possibly be warranteed by the dealer and to at least try (she told me it "a flywheel came off and damaged the engine". Doesn't sound like she wants to go that route and wants to know what she can get out of it. It has a good trailer, so I'm thinking like $1200-1500? Any comments? Too high? Too low?

I've asked her twice via email if it were looked at by a mechanic or they diagnosed it themselves, but she is either missing that question or dodging it on purpose.

you need to get it for next to nothing to make the greif worth while and if you cant do the work yourself dont bother with it. I wouldnt go over $1500

Re: '06 RXT with a "engine that went out and the computer along with it"

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I am planning to do all the work myself, but it will be a new project for me as well. I've done some minor work on 2-strokes, but nothing on 4-strokes. I'm a handy guy and do all my own work for my cars, so I'm thinking this might be a fun project. Pretty unlikely that I'll have it running this year though, depending on what's really wrong with it.

Then I was thinking I could always part it out if I needed to, provided the price was right and I didn't lose my *** on it.

Re: '06 RXT with a "engine that went out and the computer along with it"

Just offered her $1200-1500. We'll see what she says. I'm fairly confident I could at least part it out if it was too much work.
