My friends '05 RXT does its normal 2 beep when you plug up the DESS.
When you hit the start button, it won't start and fires off 3 or 4 fast short beeps.
It will finally fire after several tried but whats wrong?
Is it trying to tell them something? (code?)
His dad keeps slapping the start switch saying it must be bad.
Don't have a 4 stroke myself, but its killing me watching them fiddle around!

According to the operators guide, your description of beeps says your friend left the lanyard on the post too long. The guide says don't do that, you'll run the battery down.

See page 107 of the guide under troubleshooting.

Tell dad to quit slapping the switch, it won't help.
