03 GTX Questions

Wife was saying that she wasn't getting a good hole shot. Seems to be a little more rattling than I like when I fired up the ski on dry land. I think the impeller ring and maybe the impeller itself is damaged.

Questions, since I am thinking of replacing the impeller and ring,

1. What is the stock spec?
2. What is the top speed of the boat?
3. Is there a better impeller for a hole shot?
4. What is the trade off for that impeller?

I think I would have to trade some speed for a better get up and go shot so how much would I lose?

Re: 03 GTX Questions

U just need to pull the pump off and check. Its so simple to do. Undo the steering and reverse cables with 2 10 mm wrenches, then get a long extension with a 17mm socket to undo the 4 bolts holding it to the hull. Then u can get a nice look at the wear ring and impeller. If its an 03 and never been touched, then I would bet its good a roughed up. top speed should be 65-70 and should be pullen about 8,000 or so rpm's. Cant really direct you towards a new impeller, though skat trax or solas make some nice ones ( look to spend about 300 for one of thoughs). I would also suggest new seals and bearings while your there, though most all of this require some tools that might be best left to the dealer.
