Unhappy 03 4-Tec Information Centre Failure

Removed battery as due replacement. Ski left without battery for approx 2 months. New battery fitted, charged overnight, then ran ski. No life from information centre, totally lifeless. Long beep when DESS key first connected and then every 15 mins.
Checked all fuses, ok.
Don't really want to lash-out loads of wonga for a new information centre module unless am certina it's dead.
Anyone repair them or do service exchange units?
Any other tricks or ideas on how to fix?
All ideas/suggestions gratefully received.
Thnx,
Chris

Re: 03 4-Tec Information Centre Failure

likely the ecu was glitched . take the ski to a seadoo dealer and have a new key programmed, they might be able to reset the ecu..then the guages will work.

I had a 2005 wake where that _same thing_ happened after the boat flipped and wasn't righted for a few hours..sudenly the guages went out and that long beep business started when the key was inserted..everything else checked out OK. I put the guages on another 2005, no problem!..same for the MPEM, put that on the other 2005 and no problem, engine started, guages worked.

Just picked up a repalcement ECU on ebay and the ski is going to the seadoo dealer for a reprogram next week.

good luck!

Re: 03 4-Tec Information Centre Failure

either a bad ecu or no power feed to ecu so chack all fuses and from there need to get wiring diagram and follow ecu power feed and test it if it has power and earth feeds the ecu is faulty

Re: 03 4-Tec Information Centre Failure

Have already checked all fuses, ok. Will check power feed and earth connection for ECU, already have circuit diagrams. Hopefully ECU just baffled, rather than goosed?
Will revert once checked, but not back home until 24th July. Thanks for the help.

Re: 03 4-Tec Information Centre Failure

Update on Information Centre Failure. The unit is actually "goosed". Tried a repllacement unit on my ski and works fine? Apparently these information centres have a tendancy to go pop, so am starting a new thread to find out just how many ski's this problem effects.

usually when the info gauge goes bad the ski will still double beep and start so strange you had the symptoms you did.
