Stung by a Ray

Rode ski out to Egmont Key last Friday with wife. I've never seen it so clear due to lack of storms this year. Arrived, killed engine, jumped off onto a sting ray. Sliced pinky toe open and got the crap stung out of me!
Never will I go again barefoot.

my 15 y/o daughter has a ray sting her as well....NOT nice....VERY painful!

Since then, I also always wear some kind of shoes when I ride

Did you spend the next hours with your foot in hot water?

Re: Stung by a Ray

my friends lab was playing around on a sandbar and got stabbed by a small one! poor dog was crying like crazy! the thing went after me also. some are not afraid and will stalk u. i went back the next day with a 3 prog spear and speared the aggressive one that wouldn't back down when i approached. its a sharp prong like tail that they stab you with. luckily the lab got stabbed behind the leg muscle and didn't damage her tendons or opened an artery hate to swimup on one and get stabbed in the heart like crocodile guy. i always make lots of noise when im walking in the water now,

Re: Stung by a Ray

ouch man that sucks, back when i lived in VA we were out on the eastern shore with the kayaks and i was walking along teh beach pulling my yak when i came up on 4 huge ones almost stepped on 2 of them, scared the shyt out of me. since then i didnt walk that beach not paying attention

another time i was with my dad wading about waist deep fishing and he hooked into something nice so i came over to him to assist in landing it, it got about 5 feet from us and surfaced, it splased its wing and that was it, no more wading for me.
