Hour Verification

I am looking for a used ski, and want to be sure the hour meter has not be tampered with. I know all newer yamaha outboards can have the hour meter verified by the diagnostic tool.

Can a dealer verify the hours on the ski from the diagnostic tool? I am looking at a yamaha FX from 2003 to 2006.

Yeah.......the YDS will give you the correct hours for the ski, no matter how many times the hour clock is changed.

Is changing the hour clock an easy process, I would hate to think mine was changed before I bought it

Just gota change out the meter. The meter and ecu store hours, U can swap meters and it will show less hours, but yds reads it out of the ecu. Unless of course u swap ecu's.
