FX140 Blown Cylinder Head Cover Gasket

I just noticed an enormous amount of oil in the hull of my 2004 FX140. I discovered that there a two rubber 'nubs' on the Cylinder Head Cover Gasket, facing the front of the craft. One was blown out and leaking a lot of oil when running. Any ideas why it blew out, and is this gasket easy to replace? It looks straight forward.

Thanks

Re: FX140 Blown Cylinder Head Cover Gasket

I am having a similar problem with my 03 FX so I would be interested to see what you find out. I have 275 hours on my ski and have never had a problem until now. Recently i was riding when the temp light came on and the ski slowed itselft down to 40mph. There is oil in the bottom of the air box cover as well as the intake. I ran it on the hose and i don't see any oil leaking?

havent seen that happpen? no recent work where it was removed? only thing i can think of is extremely overfilled oil or blocked crankcase breather hose but dont see how that could happen.. fairly easy to replace. use a sealant on those pieces that blew
