FX 140 air filter project

I plan on getting a Riva filter and stacks, but until then I need something to work. I went to walmart and sorted through the vast assortment of air filters and I found one to fit. I found a fram air filter that just sits perfectly in the bottom of the air box. Now I will find a way to hold it down. Should work fine....

Yes it was only 12.00. I has to work better than a oil clogged molded air filter!

Re: FX 140 air filter project

You should flip that over though. Incoming air is supposed to come in through the side that you have facing up.

Re: FX 140 air filter project

it won't fit the other way, and the rubber seal is only on one side. The filter paper is the same on both sides. now just have to secure it and have time for a test run.

Yea I see what you mean now about the rubber seal. You can run it without the filter altogether too. There isnt much dust out on the water. I ran mine without the filter while i was waiting on my Riva stacks and filter. If your original was oil clogged you will definitely notice the improvement.

Re: FX 140 air filter project

Imo you dont really need an air filter you can run without it for the time being. Most skis run a flame arestor only and thats what your velosity stacks are for

Re: FX 140 air filter project

Without any air restriction it runs really lean which puts a little extra stress on the valves.

Re: FX 140 air filter project

Not trying to start and agument but a/f ratio doesnt put anymore stress on the valves. And the computer has the ability to learn thats why there is an o2 sensor. Also the riva filter has alot less restiction than stock

I take the air filters out & throw them in the garbage & they run just fine without them.
