Flushing pressure?

Does anyone know if it is possible to use to much water pressure with the hose when flushing and force to much water into the engine?

I also have the problem of not enough water pressure at my beach house and after a couple of minutes the overheat warning sounds so I can only flush a couple of minutes at a time.

Thanks all
Jim

Re: Flushing pressure?

The nozzel restricts the flow so normal hose pressure isn't going to hurt it (as long as it's running).

Look for or feel for a kink in the water intake line between the engine and the bulkhead. Mine was pushed through to far and it kinked. Follow the flush line to the intake line and follow it through the bulkhead.

As well as the flush connecter restricting flow........a good amount of water runs back out through the intake filter screen, so relativly high water pressure is not a problem.

If you are having trouble with low pressure then there are a couple of things to do to help. Firstly, tilt ski slightly forward. Secondly, either pinch or clamp off the inlet hose ( from the pump ), this will ensure all water will be directed round the cooling passages. A 'tow valve' can be fitted to make this easier if required.

Not sure what ski you have.........here is a pic of the hose on my FXHO

Re: Flushing pressure?

One last point, manual states to not run motor out of water higher than 3000 rpm. I bumped my gas a few times on the hose, and the overheat sensor went off also. Ran it on hose at idle for over 8 minutes, no problem. It ainīt like my skis. Different flow patterns for the cooling water. Enjoy!!
