Do all waverunners suck in choppy sea?

I'm riding my VX around Long Island Sound and sometimes in the open ocean, and most of the time the sea is a bit rough.

So I'm not sure if it's just a VX problem, but it definitely sucks going in to 2-3 ft chop at any speed.

Like at 20-25 mph, it slams in to waves HARD. Very tiresome, especially longer rides, water in the face every 2 seconds, have to stand up the whole time, and all that slamming can't be good for the hull ...I had to reatach the front molding like 3 times now cause it just flies off after a good wave hits it.

And if I slow down to ~15 mph, now the craft goes over the wave and falls off on the other side and burries the bow so the speed drops to 0, which sucks just as bad.

I got this Waverunner VX cause I thought it'd be good for longer trips, and I can tow it with my car and it would get better milage than a power boat. Now I've done a few 80-140 mile trips, but it sucks every time cause of the way it rides. It just smashes in to waves, so I'm not sure any more if that was a good choice, and what to do about it.

So are there may be some techniques to make it ride smoothly that I haven't thought off? Is FX any better cutting through the waves?

Hmm...not sure about the FX but on an XP it helps to stand way on the back and barrel it....and then jump every other wave

Well, yea, I figured that one out on my first ride. I stand back and try to keep the impeller in the water and the bow up, and it's fun for about 15 minutes, but gets tiresome after a while and gotta pay attention to what I'm doing the whole time and can't relax and look around and enjoy the scenery and such while I'm riding which is what I'd want to do

In those conditions you really need to stand. I ride an FX in the ocean and sometimes bigger water than 2 / 3 ft. I like to ride in that stuff so for me it's not an issue. I usually get to the the top of the waves and just like Chanz says jump em. Yes , it is a hard landing sometimes but it is what it is.
My hull takes a beating and I have never had any issues with anything breaking. A loose mirror and a pc of plastic on the rear of the ski but that's really about it.

You apparently didn't do your research before you bought the VX. They are horrible in chop compared to the FX. Should have asked around and we would have told you to buy the FX to begin with.

Solution is stay on calm water or trade it in for a ski that will be a better fit for your type of riding.
