Corrosion/Oxidation on Exhaust

My yamaha fx140 looks like it has corrosion or oxidation on the aluminum type piece on the exhaust, I'm talking before it goes into the water box. Is there a way I can remove this? Wirebrush?Brass brush? or Should I not worry aboutit?

Re: Corrosion/Oxidation on Exhaust

After looking it up it looks like they called this the "exhaust joint". Itis the piece right before the waterbox. It is forward of the waterbox.

Re: Corrosion/Oxidation on Exhaust

Is it badly pitted or just a surface haze? Start spraying anti corrosive on it (and the engine for that matter) and you shouldnt have corrosion problems. Store the ski with the seat off too or at least propped up so air can get in and out.

Re: Corrosion/Oxidation on Exhaust

It wasn't pitted, just had i suppose a surface haze. I used a copper wire brush and lightly brushed it and it came right off. Cleaned it after with some degreaser and now I can just keep up with it and clean it everything I take it out.
