2009: FX SHO vs. FX Cruiser SHO...

Hey, guys... just about to pull the trigger on this purchase. Reading the Yamaha website and checking the pics on these 2009 FX models, the only things that I can tell are different (outside of paint/decals):

1. Cruiser seat
2. Handlebar design

Anything else that I'm missing here? Running through the specs/features, the two models look to be identical.

Re: 2009: FX SHO vs. FX Cruiser SHO...

Pull up cleats
Grab rail around the rear seat wraps around alot further on the cruiser........easier for your passenger to hold on to.
The Ho Cruiser (upto 08) used to have an extra instrument cluster on the R/H side giving water temp, compass, trip computer, etc, but this is no longer offered on the newer models.
The handle bars are higher on the cruiser, which is great for stand up riding.
Sure there are a couple of other minor differances but can't think of them for now!

Good details, thanks for pointing these differences out. I'm 6'4 and that cruiser seat puts me a bit close to the front...

Re: 2009: FX SHO vs. FX Cruiser SHO...

People either love or hate the cruiser seats!
I'm 6'1 & don't have an issue at all with the cruiser seat. They are alot softer then the std seat.......you can sit on the 'hump' & it just squashes down under you.......doesn't even feel like you are sitting on it. If you plan on taking the kids on the back, they will feel alot more secure having the rear upstand.
Best advice is to try sitting on both at the dealer, get a feel for them both.

We love the cruiser seat. Have 2 VX's as well. We fight for the cruiser if we are going to be on the water very long.

Re: 2009: FX SHO vs. FX Cruiser SHO...

Sat on them both again and decided to go with the non-cruiser setup... the cruiser seat was very comfy but the geometry felt like I was on my mountain bike with the seat too low... not quite "ready for action". The '09 FX SHO was also $500 cheaper, so that sealed the deal. On the downside, I think the '09 Cruiser SHO in Bronze/Metallic is a much better-looking ski. Oh, well.

I bought an '08 VX Cruiser, too, so at least one of the skis will be the luxo-ride.

Thanks again for all of the input...

I would not call our cruiser a 3 seaters either if you ever hope to have 2 others along for the ride. Enjoy your new PWC
