2005 FX HO depth finder placement

I just purchased a hawkey d10d through hull depth sounder and I seen a couple of post putting the transponder on the port (left) side of the pump tunnel becouse it is single laminate (not double hulled) in this spot. Is this still the best spot on the 2005 FX HO. I'm just trying to be lazy and not do all the testing of locations if some of you have already been through it.

Thanks

Re: 2005 FX HO depth finder placement

if im correct, you can place the depth finder inside the hull as long as its not near the motor. I have read that people do it all the time to boats and it works without a problem! Plus our hulls are not made of metal and are not the thickest hulls around! Its worth a shot at trying to see if it reads at all, and if it does then you don't have to put extra holes into the hull, just secure it somehow or use some gorilla glue and you will be set!

I put mine just in front of the engine on the left side and it works just fine.
