09 FX Cruiser, HO vs SHO

I am looking at two new 09 FX Cruisers. One is HO and the other is SHO. Aside from colors, It looks like the only difference is the Super Charger and the compression ratio. with the different compression retios, I would doubt the low end torque is much different. If this is the case, not sure it is worth the extra $1,000 dollars. Is everything else the same? Am I missing something?

If you're in it for the sport, I would get the SHO. It'll accellerate much better. Top speeds aren't too much different.

For me, low end torque isn't as much of a factor because I keep the RPMs near the top

Thanks,, I would like to ride both before I buy, but that is probably not going to happen. I was hoping some on here have and could share experience on my decision.
I would like to get most of my money.

If you think there's even a smidgen of a chance you'll be modding the ski, get the SHO. $1000 would be well better spent on the SHO than trying to get more holeshot out of a HO.

I don't think you'll have any regrets with the SHO IMO

Re: 09 FX Cruiser, HO vs SHO

I have a 09 sho which I bought new in July of 2009. Love it. Fast as hell (actually scared the crap outta me when I first opened her up), responsive on a dime quiet. BUT A GAS GUZZLER. Keep in mind this is not a cheap sport so really what will you do about that. I have had it on inland lakes, beach bays, and open ocean fantastic all around. I think I am more of the speed/adrenaline type where my girl friend loves to cruise around and be comfortable. we both love it. The cruise for both sho and ho has more instrumentation but if you have gps with you then the instrumentation wont matter, then what is left is the seat difference and tie down cleats included on the cruiser. If you dont care about the instrumentation and the cleats, I would save the $ (if you like the seats maybe the dealer will give you cruiser seats on the non cruiser) and buy a decent gps which will give you intrumentation and gps for about the $600 difference and save a few $ too. So far since i started w./ pwc i have had a 2000 xl 700(love), then a 2001 kawasaki stx 1100 di (hated), and now my sho (love). Yamaha is the way to go, also get the extended warranty (just incase- these are toys and they do break no matter which manufacture you go with). Remember the ho/sho is for the speed, which if you dont care about save $ and go with the vx version, which from reading on here people love. The vx cost less and is much more fuel effecient. Personally I keep my skis for a long time as I live in the northeast and only ride about 5 months out of the year so I like to get exactly what I want (speed/comfort) when I get one which was my reasoning for not really even looking at the vx line. hope this helps if you have any more questions let me know

Re: 09 FX Cruiser, HO vs SHO

Jax

It all boils down to what you will be using the ski for........if cruising longer distances then go for the HO. People who have ridden both seem to say that there does not feel too much differance between the two.
If you are an adrenelin junkie then go for th SHO, but of course fuel consumption will be up!
Off couse if you could get one of each you would have the best of both worlds............that is probably what I would do if looking to get two skis!
